The standard G&T is always a winner in our book, but sometimes you just want something with a bit more pizzazz without any of the added effort that comes with mixing up a cocktail. That’s why we are so in love with Lixir’s range of tonic waters and mixers!

Using their range of unique, creative, flavoured tonics and mixers, all of which are perfectly balanced to complement your gin without overpowering it, you can whip up tasty, alternative gin drinks in a matter of moments. All you need to do is pour, garnish and enjoy!

It’s no wonder that we just had to include Lixir’s Pink Grapefruit Tonic Water and their Ginger Beer in our November 2021 Gin of the Month box - they are just so delicious and easy to use! They are great in our November Cocktail of the Month, Craft Gin Club’s Gin & Stormy, and our November 2021 Perfect G&T.

The rest of their range is just as wonderful for creating flavour-packed G&Ts so we have decided to share with you four of our favourite Lixir and gin serves.

4 Delicious Alternative Gin And Tonic Recipes:

Lixir Elderflower & Lemon G&T

Elderflower and lemon have always been best friends to gin, but garnishing with fresh mint really helps to bring together all of those sumptuous floral, citrus and juniper flavours.

200ml Lixir Elderflower & Lemon Tonic Water
Fresh mint and lemon, to garnish

Add your ingredients to a glass with lots of ice. Stir, garnish and enjoy!

Lixir Ginger Ale & Gin

Ok, so Ginger Ale isn’t a tonic water, but it’s light and crisp and vibrant, and it makes for a great alternative for those who don’t like the bitterness of quinine in tonic water. In this recipe, we like to use cucumber and citrus fruit as garnishes, as they really complement the refreshing zest of the ginger ale.

200ml Lixir Ginger Ale
Fresh cucumber, lime and mint, to garnish

Add your ingredients to a glass with lots of ice. Stir, garnish and enjoy!

Lixir Blood Orange & Cinnamon G&T

That mouth-watering mix of orange citrus and cinnamon spice tones makes this serve a festive treat like no other. It’s perfect for winter and beyond!

For an extra hit of strawberries, try muddling two berries in the bottom of your glass with the gin before adding the ice and the tonic water.

Founded by good mates and former bartenders Matt and Jordan, Lixir has always been about more than merely making delicious, all-natural drinks -- though they’ve nailed that, too! Right from the start Jordan and Matt were focused on building a community around their brand. From their very first production run -- funded via kickstarter by a core group of supporters -- the goal has always been bringing people together.

Starting a business with a mate has allowed us to have loads of fun. We want people to ‘taste the good times’ and this is at the heart of everything we do.

But Matt and Jordan weren’t content merely to let the good times roll. They also wanted to give back.

It’s a huge privilege to share a drink with friends — it’s not something everyone is fortunate enough to have.

— Matt

In an effort to change that, Lixir donates 1% of its revenue to Just a Drop. Since its founding in 1998, this amazing organisation has helped 1.8 million people across 32 countries gain access to safe and clean drinking water. And their approach, as Jordan explains, is perfectly aligned with Lixir’s own ethos.

Their projects focus on community-led development, rather than aid relief, so our donations make a difference on a larger scale and the projects are sustainable for years to come.

— Matt

In 2021, Lixir’s contributions supported the construction of a rainwater harvesting tank at Mwania Primary School in Kenya. The project provided 98 children with fresh, clean water.

It’s nice to know that by enjoying a Lixir here, our customers are providing clean drinking water to those who need it most.

Lixir are also expressing their gratitude to the planet by taking the required steps to become carbon neutral.

Climate change is serious, and it’s impossible to ignore. It’s something that weighs heavily on every member of the team, and we want to do more than our consumers or investors would expect of us — we want to go further and leave things better than we found them.

— Matt

The Lixir team offsets emissions by planting trees in Mozambique and Madagascar as well as supporting many more sustainability and offsetting projects. Already carbon neutral through this effort, they’re going further -- their target is to cut emissions by 5% in 2021.
