By now you will have seen fabulous Old Mout fruit ciders in all of the pubs and bars across the land, and if you are a Craft Gin Club member you will have seen their Strawberry & Apple or Pineapple & Raspberry editions in your April 2023 Gin of the Month box too. But did you know that Old Mout Cider works so well with gin?

Well, it certainly does work well with gin and this easy, absolutely stunning fruit cider punch proves it!

You can use any of the Old Mout Cider range in this recipe (the recipe works so well because Old Mout Ciders all have such authentic, real fruit flavours, and they come through in every sip), but we have gone for Old Mout Strawberry & Apple here because we think it is a fantastic match for the fragrance of pink gin.

But which pink gin do you choose? This recipe can be adapted to your tastes, so whether you prefer citrusy pink gins like Tarquin’s Pink Lemon, Grapefruit & Peppercorn, fruity, berry-licious pink gins like Manchester Gin Raspberry Infused or floral pink gins like Shortcross Rosie’s Garden Gin, you can’t lose!

The freshly squeezed lemon juice then gives the cocktail a bright zing of citrus to contrast the sweeter cider tones and the whole thing is topped off with refreshing tonic water, which adds complexity with its unique, bitter quinine tones.

Mixing everything together gives you a bubbly fruit punch cocktail that is fruity, boozy, refreshing, sweet, sour and bitter in all of the right places.

Gin and Old Mout Cider punch cocktail recipe

50ml pink gin
330ml Old Mout Strawberry & Apple
Juice of one lemon
150ml tonic water
Strawberry and lemon slices, to garnish
Fresh mint, to garnish

Add everything to a punch bowl or jug with lots of ice. Stir well, serve and enjoy!

Craft Gin Club’s Master Mixologist, Dan Tripp, has also been playing around with the Old Mout Pineapple & Raspberry we sent to Clubbers in their April 2023 Gin of the Month box, creating this fabulous Pineapple & Raspberry Gin Sling recipe…

Pineapple & Raspberry Gin Sling

Here, the rich gin finds an amazing partner in the pineapple and raspberry tones of the Old Mout Cider. The amaro then offers a bitter, aromatic fruitiness to the cocktail that is complex and enriching. As are the dashes of Angostura bitters, which bring their own spiced profile into the mix.

The cocktail is finished with fresh lemon juice and the sweet pomegranate allure of grenadine. Yum!

20ml Amaro (StillGarden O’maro is great in this recipe!)

10ml Grenadine

Add the gin, amaro, lemon juice and bitters to a cocktail shaker and shake with cubed ice. Stain into a sling glass and top up with the Old Mout Pineapple & Raspberry. Fill the glass with cubed or crushed ice, then drizzle grenadine over the top. Stir, garnish and serve!
