Cocktail: The perfect Negroni

With its famous ratio of 1:1:1, the Negroni is a cocktail recipe that’s difficult to bungle! However, here at Craft Gin Club we have got a few tips on how to perfect this delicious drink.

25ml dry gin
25ml Campari
25ml sweet vermouth
Orange zest, to garnish

Fill a short rocks glass with ice and pour all the ingredients over the ice. Stir gently for a good minute, until the drink is well chilled. Garnish with a slice or twist of orange peel.

We love the Negroni as an aperitif - it pairs brilliantly with savoury snacks.

Craft Gin Club tip: Invest in good vermouth. In a cocktail like this, with equal parts of all of its ingredients, you don’t want to ruin the flavours by using your beautiful craft gin, classic Campari and then spoiling it with a sub-par vermouth! Cinzano Rosso, Martini Rossa or Carpano Antica are safe bets to guarantee delicious results.

Now you’ve mastered the basics of a classic Negroni, why not try one of our alternative recipes that puts a twist on the traditional version - the Sloe Negroni, the Frozen Negroni or the White Negroni, for example? And for more classic gin cocktail recipes, check out our cocktail hub. Bottoms up!
