If you get as giddy for candy as we do here at Craft Gin Club HQ then you need to try these three fabulous Candy Kitten-inspired gin cocktails - they have us absolutely smitten!
We sent Craft Gin Club members one of three different flavours of scrumptious Candy Kitten Gourmet Sweets in our September 2021 Gin of the Month box: Wild Strawberry, Sour Watermelon and Tropical Mango.
Each one of those vegan-friendly sweeties is bursting with authentic fruit flavours from the natural fruit juices used to produce them, making them the perfect snack for any sweet-toothed gin lover (especially when enjoyed with the cocktail recipes below!).
Whether you prefer a gin and strawberry, mango or watermelon cocktail, each of these creative and fun recipes is utterly yummy. Give them a go tonight!
Wild Strawberry Gin Highball
Inspired by Candy Kitten’s Wild Strawberry Gourmet Sweets, this juicy, vibrant cocktail is made with gin, fresh strawberries and tangy rosé wine. Wonderfully easy to drink, this mix of fruit, gin and wine makes for a great aperitif style of cocktail to enjoy outdoors when you want some fun in the sun.
35ml gin
15ml grapefruit juice
15ml lemon juice
15ml simple syrup
2 fresh strawberries
50ml rosé wine
Garnish with fresh strawberries and lemon or Candy Kittens Wild Strawberry Gourmet Sweet
Add 2 fresh strawberries to a cocktail shaker and muddle. Add the gin, grapefruit juice, lemon juice and simple syrup to the shaker, top with ice and shake well. Strain into a highball glass filled with ice and top with rose’ wine. Garnish with Candy Kittens Wild Strawberry Gourmet Sweets or fresh strawberries and lemon. Enjoy!
Watermelon Sour Fizz
This gorgeous and creative pink cocktail recipe uses watermelon as a replacement for ice cubes! They not only chill the drink but also infuse it with sumptuous watermelon flavours that work so well with the gin. With a splash of soda water to add a little fizz, this fruity cocktail is fantastic for sipping while you nibble on Candy Kittens Sour Watermelon Gourmet Sweets.
50ml gin
25ml lime juice
15ml simple syrup
5 watermelon cubes
splash soda water
Garnish with lime or a Candy Kittens Watermelon Gourmet Sweet
Put 5 fresh watermelon cubes in the freezer to freeze. When ready, add those to a shaker together with the rest of the ingredients and shake well. Strain into a coupette and top with a little splash of soda water. Garnish with a lime wheel or a Candy Kittens Watermelon Gourmet Sweet. Enjoy!
Tropical Mango Gin Rickey
This unique, tropical take on a Gin Rickey recipe is completely drool-worthy. A Rickey can also be made with bourbon, but the classic Gin Ricky usually uses just gin, fresh lime juice and soda water. This version adds a splash of mango juice, a garnish of fresh lime and a touch of cayenne pepper salt on the rim of the glass for some extra fun. Enjoyed with Candy Kittens Tropical Mango Gourmet Sweets, it never fails to get us excited!
45ml gin
10ml lime juice
50ml mango juice
50ml soda water
Garnish with a lime wedge or a Candy Kitten Tropical Mango Gourmet Sweet
Cayenne pepper salt, to rim the glass (optional)
To make the cayenne pepper salt: mix 3tsp of salt with 1tsp of cayenne pepper in a saucer. Wet the rim of your glass and place it into the saucer of cayenne pepper salt until the rim is evenly coated.
Add all the ingredients in a rocks glass with ice and give a quick stir to combine. Garnish with a lime wedge or Candy Kitten Tropical Mango Gourmet Sweet. Enjoy!
