One of our favourite gin cocktails here at Craft Gin Club, the gorgeously refreshing and bubbly French 75 is said to be named after a 75mm gun used in the first World War; it has such a kick, that it was once said it felt like being hit by the weapon!
15ml lemon juice
15ml simple syrup*
Champagne (or other sparkling wine)
Add the gin, lemon juice and simple syrup to a cocktail shaker and fill with ice. Shake for about five seconds. Strain into a champagne flute and top with ice cold Champagne or sparkling wine for one of the best ways to kick off a dinner.
*Simple Syrup : gently heat equal parts of sugar and water for about 5 minutes, stirring throughout, until the sugar dissolves and the liquid reduces to a syrupy texture, then leave to cool. Can be stored, sealed, in the fridge for 4-6 months.
