Rosé Sainte Marie, Salcombe Distilling Co.

Salcombe gin

We first worked with Salcombe Distilling Co. in February 2019 (with their Start Point Dry Gin). This Rosé Sainte Marie gin is delicate and reminiscent of a balmy summer’s evening sat outside your favourite restaurant, watching the world go by.

What does Salcombe Gin Rosé Sainte Marie taste like? Notes of lemon and Provence herbs complement the natural, soft sweetness of strawberries and angelica.

What are the key botanicals of the Salcombe Gin Rosé Sainte Marie? Juniper, lemon peel, orange peel, lemon verbena, rose petals, orange blossom, pink peppercorns, strawberries, angelica - and six other secret ingredients.

What makes the Salcombe Gin Rosé Sainte Marie special? The team at Salcombe Distilling Co. were inspired by the adventure and joy of life in the South of France, encapsulated by the elegant-yet-joyful pink wines made there. They were keen to capture this joie de vivre in their speciality spirit, gin, while also exploring how to create a pink gin without adding artificial colours, flavours or sugar.

This stunning gin takes a style of wine as a starting point — in Salcombe’s case, the fruity and dry palate of a Provencal rosé wine — and translated it into a gin by choosing botanicals that echo the flavours in fine wine. So if you love all things rosé you are in for a treat!

Angus Lugsdin, the co-founder of this gin loves a glass of dry Provencal rosé wine and the image of Mediterranean summers’ day that goes along with it. The result? A gin expression softer than a London Dry, with the lovely hint of red fruit and freshness you would get in a glass of rosé wine. Yum!

What’s the perfect G&T with Salcombe Gin Rosé Sainte Marie? On its own over ice or with Indian tonic water and a slice of strawberry to accentuate the bouquet of red fruit.

What’s the best cocktail serve with Salcombe Gin Rosé Sainte Marie? A Southern Sky. With a combination of thyme-infused Chambord and champagne, we can’t get enough!

B3rry Pink Gin, Anno Distillers

Back in May 2015, Anno Kent Dry Gin was our gin of the month. Meet their berry-tastic sister: the fresh and fruity flavours of summertime in the Kent countryside that come together to create this delicious subtly sweet pink gin.

Anno B3rry Pink Gin.jpg

What does B3rry Pink Gin taste like? A smooth rich chocolatey welcome leads to a delightfully juicy burst of berry flavours, underscored with traditional juniper aspects.

What are the key botanicals in B3rry Pink Gin? Strawberry, blackberry, elderberry, cocoa, cassia, cardamom, seville orange peel, coriander seeds, rose hips, orris root, liquorice, juniper berries.

What makes B3rry Pink Gin gin special? In 2011, founders Dr Andy Reason and Dr Norman Lewis left behind their roles as scientists to pursue their passion for craft spirits and open Kent's first gin distillery in 200 years! With one eye on the science behind making spirits and another on displaying all that their home county of Kent has to offer, they created Anno Distillers.

While the journey has been a story of success, it hasn’t always been plain sailing. In the early days when they were bubbling with ideas, they had to endure seemingly endless waits (like an arduous 18-month wait for a licence!) - but the perseverance paid off. To celebrate this, they adorned their 300-litre copper pot still with the name ‘Patience’ as a tribute to those challenging times.

It started in Maidstone and is now nestled away in the sleepy yet picturesque village of Marden is where the magic happens. The founders’ life-long science background gives a practical understanding of the equipment capabilities, allowing them to make high-quality gin.

What’s the perfect G&T with B3rry Pink Gin? Ice, tonic water and then garnish with fresh mint and a halved strawberry.

What’s the best cocktail serve with B3rry Pink Gin? Pink gin and peach lemonade punch. An easy, refreshing summer gin pitcher = winner.

Tarquins Rhubarb and Raspberry Gin.jpg

Tarquin’s Rhubarb and Raspberry Gin, Southwestern Distillery

This nuanced take on modern fruit-led gins is a true celebration of Britain's bountiful larder. After featuring Tarquin’s Cornish Dry Gin in our April 2016 box - we can confirm this delectable gin hits the mark.

What does Tarquin’s Rhubarb and Raspberry Gin taste like? Crisp juniper on the nose, accompanied by sherbet lemon, pine and eastern spices. The palate is full of those sweet raspberry and tart rhubarb flavours that we know and love. The finish is a delectable mix of berry jam and zesty citrus that are rounded suavely by a dryness that comes from refusing to use added sugars.

What are the key botanicals in Tarquin’s Rhubarb and Raspberry Gin? Rhubarb, raspberry, juniper, coriander seed, liquorice root, angelica root, orris root, green cardamom, cinnamon, bitter almonds, fresh orange, lemon and grapefruit peel, violets.

What makes the Tarquin’s Rhubarb and Raspberry Gin special? To create this Rhubarb & Raspberry Gin, they first started the process by distilling their flagship Tarquin’s Cornish Dry Gin as the base. To do this, 11 of the botanicals are added to our stills (with the exception of the violets, rhubarb and raspberry) and left to macerate overnight in a wheat based neutral grain spirit.

In the morning Tarquin simply adds the missing violets to complete the botanical recipe. Post distillation, it’s lovingly infused with the most brilliant rhubarb & raspberry they can find. They let this infuse until Tarquin feels the balance is just right. Finally, they cut the gin with de-mineralized Cornish spring water to bring it down to the desired 38% abv. It’s a masterpiece!

What’s the perfect G&T with Tarquin’s Rhubarb and Raspberry Gin? Premium citrus-forward tonic water or lemonade with raspberries to garnish.

What’s the best cocktail serve with Tarquin’s Rhubarb and Raspberry Gin? A Rhubarb Royale. Because who doesn’t love gin and prosecco?

Cuckoo Supernova Gin, Brindle Distillery

Cuckoo Supernova Gin.jpg

Exploding with fresh grapefruit, Cuckoo Supernova Gin is the star of summer nights. A 100% real citrus fruit Gin with no added sugar, we are sold (and have been since we featured Cuckoo Solace Gin as our gin of the month in May 2021).

What does Cuckoo Supernova Gin taste like? Clearly grapefruit on the nose with those lovely notes of Juniper we expect from gin. Next, you’ll be hit with wonderful notes of fresh grapefruit and pomelo.

What are the key botanicals in Cuckoo Supernova Gin?

Juniper, coriander, angelica, grapefruit (fresh, dried and their own made oil), pomelo, cinnamon, lemon and liquorice.

What makes Cuckoo Supernova Gin special? Based at Holmes Farm in Brindle, Lancashire, this entrepreneurial family came together to transform a disused cowshed into the award-winning Brindle Distillery, home of Cuckoo Gin.

The distillery is rustic, charming and full of character. This special pink gin is over three years in the making with plenty of experimenting and tweaks along the way. This is a real point of difference versus the market, creating a flavoured gin without the use of syrups, synthetics, or syrups.

Brindle Distillery has blended three different distillations of grapefruit (dried, fresh and our own grapefruit oil) along with a juniper heavy dry gin base to give a real explosion of grapefruit with every sip or gulp! Refreshing doesn’t cover it!

What’s the perfect G&T with Cuckoo Supernova Gin? Enjoy with Indian tonic, plenty of ice and garnish with a simple twist of grapefruit peel.

What’s the best cocktail serve with Cuckoo Supernova Gin? A Pink Negroni. It’s the perfect balance of bittersweet and fruity notes.

Pink gin perfection right this way...
