We all know the Queen is a gin lover - one of her favourite tipples is a mix of Dubonnet and gin after all - so she must be as excited as we are to taste the new Buckingham Palace Gin!

A small-batch London Dry with an ABV (alcohol level) of 42%, the gin has been made by a department of the Royal Household called The Royal Collection Trust (it is their job to look after the Royal Collection, which is one of the largest collection of artworks in Europe and one of the most important in the world).

They have made their gin using 12 botanicals, with the likes of lemon verbena, mulberry leaves, bay leaves and Hawthorne berries - all foraged from the palace gardens. What a regal treat!

Said to be best enjoyed in a classic G&T with a premium tonic water and a slice of lemon, the gin will be served at royal events and will be sold at Royal Collection Trust shops for £40 (in 70cl bottles). All of the profits will go to The Royal Collection Trust, which is a registered charity formed to help conserve the artworks in the royal collection.

It is reportedly hoped that sales of the new Buckingham Palace Gin is will give the charity a boost, after it was hit particularly hard by the coronavirus pandemic. The trust has apparently been forced to take out a massive £22 million loan (after predicting losses of £30 million) and many of its staff potentially face redundancy.

In a beautiful bottle to match what is sure to be a beautiful gin, this is one tipple that we can’t wait to try. We are sure it will make Lizzy proud and she’ll be having a right Royal knees-up to celebrate - the deciding factor will be if it goes with her Dubonnet, of course. Cheers, Ma’am!
