Here at Craft Gin Club, we’re love the optimism that comes with the spring and summer seasons. The good news? We’ve got a ginny how-to that only needs three ingredients - and the result? Your very own delicious passion fruit gin (a.k.a sunshine in a tipple!). And if you fancy making some more of your own flavoured gin, check out our how-to on making raspberry gin and rhubarb and ginger gin

Sweet-but-slightly-tart, passion fruits are reminiscent of a tropical holiday - which makes this exotic fruit an instant mood booster. Not only that, but this gin has got a beautiful vibrant hue to boot.

We adore the zesty sweetness from the yellow pulp, which contrasts so well with the crunchy black, edible seeds. Thanks to the fruit’s fragrant aroma, the flavoursome flesh does all the hard work for you in this homemade gin recipe! Simply grab a bottle of neutral gin, some sugar and you’re good to go…

If you want to impress your guests and ensure it looks as good as it tastes, we enjoy garnishing with extra passionfruit seeds (for that added bit of crunch), but you can of course strain it if you’d like it completely smooth.

Add some purple edible flowers (which you can pick up at supermarkets like M&S) et voila! You could even bottle this bright and bold spirit and label it to make a thoughtful gin gift for your loved ones!

We’ve even answered some questions about the passion fruit gin that you might be wondering…

What tonic goes with passion fruit gin?`

To really let your homemade passion fruit gin sing, try it with a neutral tonic and lots of ice. If you don’t like tonic or want to try something new, we particularly love it with pineapple soda, it complements the flavour so well!

How do you serve passion fruit gin liqueur?

If you’ve got a passion fruit gin liqueur (which is be a sweeter, lower ABV version of passion fruit gin), it also works beautifully with a neutral tonic and ice, but you could try it with lemonade and garnish with fresh mint.

Passion fruit gin with a gin and tonic

Passionfruit Gin

Ingredients:
4-6 large passion fruits
70cl gin
100g sugar

Method:

Combine the passionfruit , sugar and gin in an airtight jar, close, and shake well. Store in a cool, dark place for three days. Strain using a sieve or muslin cloth.

Top tip: if you strain out your passionfruit pulp, why not use the gin-fused passionfruit on top of our ginny cheesecake recipe?

To make the perfect Passionfruit G&T…

Passion fruit gin and tonic

50ml passionfruit gin (like your lovely homemade one!)
150ml tonic (pineapple soda is a great alternative if you don’t like tonic)
