We gave a gin makeover to a classic retro cocktail and it's amazing

August means one thing and one thing only: holiday time! Yes, summer is in full swing and even if you can’t actually be lying by the ocean on a tropical island (sob, sob), then here at Craft Gin Club we’ve got the next best thing: a full-on retro beach cocktail with a delicious gin makeover!

Gin Sunrise

This ginny version of classic ‘70s cocktail, the Tequila Sunrise, is as refreshing as it is pretty. Just add a cocktail umbrella and lie back in your paddling pool and you’re set! Who needs the Caribbean, anyway?

30ml gin
60ml orange juice
7.5ml (about 1.5 tsp) grenadine
Orange slice and maraschino cherry to garnish

Fill a highball or other long glass with ice. Add your gin and orange juice then stir until chilled. Slowly pour the grenadine in around the rim of the glass until it starts to rise up into the drink. Do not mix once the grenadine is in, otherwise you’ll ruin the blush effect! Instead, give it a minute or two and the grenadine will settle, creating the lovely pinky orange colour gradation. Garnish with a slice of orange and a maraschino cherry and serve.
