This Remembrance Sunday, we're celebrating a man who warmed all of our hearts. The late Captain Tom united the nation and gave us hope when it was needed most during the pandemic.

His inspiring charitable legacy lives on, with Captain Tom's daughter creating a poppy pin to mark the first Armistice Day without her hero dad. The pins are available in silver and gold and contain 100 rivets, symbolising Sir Tom’s 100 years, his 100 laps and the 100 years of the Royal British Legion, one of the charities The Foundation supports.

Captain Sir Tom Moore hardly needs an introduction after reaching national hero status and international fame last year, when the former British Army officer and centenarian decided to try and raise £1000 for the NHS during the COVID-19 pandemic by walking 100 laps of his nursing home before reaching his 100th birthday.

As the nation’s heart swelled, they reached into their pockets, and the result was an astonishing £38.9 million raised in donations!

Following Captain Tom’s own gin launch (with all of its proceeds going to The Captain Tom Foundation), the foundation works to ensure Tom’s message of hope becomes a lasting legacy. One of the charities it works with is The Royal British Legion, supporting serving and ex-serving personnel all year round, and honouring their courage and commitment by ensuring they are given the support they need and deserve.

Capt Tom’s gin is distilled by Yorkshire’s Otterbeck Distillery, based in the picturesque town of Skipton. The distillery based the flavour profile of Captain Tom’s London Dry Gin on the knighted Yorkshireman’s childhood garden; featuring lots of beautiful herb and citrus notes.

Captain Sir Tom captured the imagination of the world and we’re proud to have distilled a very special gin with a very special man!

Delish quoted Captain Tom’s daughter, Hannah Ingram-Moore, as saying: “On behalf of Captain Sir Tom and family we are delighted to be in partnership with Otterbeck Distillery and sincerely look forward to our journey together. We feel an electric connection to Yorkshire so working with a gin based here is so special to us as we continue to build our family legacy and celebrate our heritage.”

And the team at Otterbeck Distillery are just as proud to be working with the now-legendary Captain. Nicola Lampkin, co-founder of the distillery with her husband, Dougie, was quoted by The Spirits Business as saying: “It is an amazing privilege to be working with captain sir Tom and his foundation, which supports some incredible charities. We’re delighted to be able to do our bit to help support such worthwhile causes.”

It is such a pleasure to see the gin community supporting great causes in this way and that Captain Sir Tom Moore was just as passionate about gin as we are. Apparently, he loved a G&T on a Sunday before his roast dinner. And we totally agree!

We will be raising a glass to celebrate the incredibly inspiring late Captain Tom and his service to the country on Armistice Day with his very own London Dry Gin (and by supporting The Captain Tom Foundation you are helping support their incredible work!)

What does Otterbeck Distillery Captain Tom’s London Dry Gin taste like?

Inspired by the hedgerows Captain Sir Tom would ride his motorcycle past in his youth, it has refreshing citrus and aromatic savoury tones. Herb and citrus notes come through on the nose, they are joined by a rich, earthy backbone of juniper on the palate. And the finish is long, bright and refreshing.
