If you like bright, sunny, summer flavours then you simply must give our Spiced Summer Sundowner cocktail recipe a go!
Mixing gin with mango juice, lime juice, ginger syrup and cardamom, it is a fragrant, zesty tropical fruit cocktail that’s laced with our favourite spirit.
Of course, the gin makes all the difference in this recipe. And for us, it has to be Distillerie 3 Lac Lemon Sunflower Gin, Craft Gin Club’s June 2023 Gin of the Month. Made with sunflower seeds, it has a wonderfully rich, complex base that’s complimented by vibrant lemon tones.
It’s the perfect match for the velvety, sweet yellow fruit tones of fresh mango juice - for this recipe, feel free to use blended fresh mango pulp or shop-bought mango juice, both work so well.
The ginger and cardamom then add their own unique, fragrant flavour tones that really make this cocktail stand out.
Fresh lime juice then lifts the whole experience. As do the fresh mint and orange, which are used to garnish this cocktail recipe.
Spiced Summer Sundowner
40ml Distillerie 3 Lacs Lemon Sunflower Gin
20ml ginger liqueur
40ml mango purée*
5ml Simple Syrup
10ml lime juice
3 green cardamom pods
Orange slice and mint sprig, to garnish
* If you haven’t got mango purée to hand, try mango sorbet, ice cream or juice.
Muddle the cardamom at the bottom of your cocktail shaker. Add the remaining ingredients, except the garnish, along with ice. Shake well and fine strain into a tumbler with ice.
Pro tip: salt is a great way to bring out the flavour of the mango. Try rimming your glass with a little salt to take your cocktail to the next level.
