Discovery is one of the many reasons Craft Gin Club was created. We want to introduce our members to new, exciting and interesting gins, that they may not be able to find on the high street. However, we do have our limits and with Anty Gin, we think we may have reached them...
Anty Gin does exactly what it says on the tin (or bottle) whereas it is made with ants...Wood Ants to be exact.
62 of the little critters have given up there essence to go into the making of this gin (so maybe not one for the vegans...) The rest of the botanicals are made up of juniper, wood avens, nettle and Alexanders seeds. And if that isn't enough ti make you antsy, you also get a 5cl dropper bottle of pure ant distillate.
If you're not put off by the contents, you may be by the price as Anty Gin comes in at a cool £199! This high price tag may be due to the fact the gin was a collaboration between The Cambridge Distillery and Nordic Food Lab and is the first gin in the world to be made from insects. Also, each bottle label is created, by hand, on Cambridge Distillery's 1924 typewriter...fancy!
Here at Craft Gin Club HQ we never say never, however don't expect this to be appearing in your Gin of the Month box anytime soon!
This may not be your cup of tea (or glass of gin) but we recon Bear Grylls might give it a shot!
