We are so excited to have Yorkshire-based Otterbeck Distillery’s Cotton Garden Gin as our September 2021 Gin of the Month, especially as their team created Cotton Garden Gin specifically for Craft Gin Club members. But did you know that they also have a range of different craft gins that are equally as delicious, including one made with the late, great national hero Captain Sir Tom Moore?

In this feature, we’re going to be taking a closer look at these magnificent gins and sharing our favourite gin and tonic recipe for each one.

Whether Otterbeck Distillery’s Cotton Gin, Strawberry & Pink Peppercorn Cotton Gin, Gently Spiced Winter Cotton Gin or Captain Sir Tom’s London Dry Gin is your favourite, we have the perfect serving suggestion for you!

Cotton Gin

Otterbeck Distillery’s original expression, this gorgeous craft gin is made with a unique blend of British botanicals that includes foraged spruce, watercress from Yorkshire and English coriander. It’s a delightfully herbaceous gin that works incredibly well with classic quinine-forward tonic waters that are clean and crisp, and a garnish of fresh citrus fruits and herbs. We love fresh lemon and rosemary with this delicious tipple.

Strawberry & Pink Peppercorn Cotton Gin

Strawberry & Pink Peppercorn Cotton Gin.jpg

For this gin, the team at Otterbeck Distillery joined forces with the guys at Annabel’s Deliciously British Strawberries to make a tasty tipple that’s brimming with remarkable strawberry flavours and the delectably fragrant and citrusy spice of pink peppercorns. We recommend serving this fruity craft gin with fresh strawberries to really accentuate those berry flavours in the gin and fresh basil for added aroma. For the tonic water, we think a Mediterranean tonic water, with its herby notes, works great here!

Gently Spiced Winter Cotton Gin

Gently Spiced Winter Cotton Gin.jpg

Gently spiced by name, gently spiced by nature - this mouth-watering craft gin has beautiful tones of nutmeg, orange, cloves and ginger that are sure to warm the soul on brisk winter nights (and at any other time for that matter!). To go with those warm spice tones, fresh orange, with its warm citrus flavour profile works a treat. Adding thyme can also give the G&T a gorgeous savoury edge that is scrumptious with the sweet fruit and the complex spice flavours of the gin. We enjoy a light tonic water with this combination of flavours - its bright, bubbly and refreshing characteristics really lift the whole experience.

Captain Sir Tom’s London Dry Gin

Captain Sir Tom's London Dry Gin.jpg

Captain Sir Tom’s London Dry Gin was inspired by the Yorkshire hedgerows that the great man used to drive past on his motorbike. It has a drool-worthy balance of citrus and savoury tones that make it an exceptional tipple to enjoy with fresh green herbs and berries. We recommend enjoying this gin with fresh mint and your choice of raspberries or blackberries (or both!). The complex quinine and citrus notes of a premium Indian tonic water make it the perfect mixer here.
