Back on 1 April 2017, Caledonia Spirits alarmed not a few readers with the announcement of the launch of their new “smoky trout-flavoured gin”. A collective sigh of relief went around at the realisation that the story was a hake - oops, we mean, fake.

A dissolvable, effervescent gin tablet that magically transforms your water into raspberry gin? If only, Pinkster Gin, if only. One of our favourite April Fool’s jokes from 2019!

A few years ago, innocent consumers were invited to purchase the Boutique-y Gin Company’s “Gluten-Free Gin”, with a discount for people with “a doctor’s note confirming a proven intolerance to gluten.” Cocktail recipes included the Grain-Free Martini.

In 2018, the “Greasy Spoon Distillery Co.” were responsible for the Full Breakfast Gin, whose, um “unique” flavour profile came courtesy of, you guessed it, classic hangover fuel such as the fried sausage. A truly egg-cellent April Fool’s Day joke, we think you’ll agree!
