6 fabulous flower-filled gin cocktails for Spring

With the 2021 RHS Chelsea Flower Show being pushed back to September this year, we’ll be missing our usual dose of flower-filled drama and artistry from the gorgeous show gardens this Spring. To get you in the mood instead, try sipping one of these six floral gin cocktails, each featuring the delicate notes of our favourite flowers!

Red Rose Fizz

50ml Theodore Pictish Gin
25ml lemon juice
15ml strawberry & rose syrup*
Pinch of ground black pepper
Red rose petal, to garnish

Add your gin, lemon juice, strawberry & rose syrup and ground black pepper to a cocktail shaker. Shake for at least a minute with ice cubes. Strain into a coupe glass. Garnish and serve.

* To make strawberry & rose syrup, you’ll need 400g strawberries, 200g caster sugar and half a teaspoon of rose water. Combine chopped and rinsed strawberries with sugar and place them in the fridge overnight. Strain the syrup through a mesh and add rose water.

50ml Gin
15ml Maraschino liqueur
8ml crème de violette
15ml Freshly squeezed lemon juice
Edible violet to garnish (optional) 

Shake ingredients together with ice. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with an edible violet.

Lavender Bees Knees

50ml gin
25ml lavender simple syrup*
1 tsp honey
15ml freshly-squeezed lemon juice

Combine 250ml of water and 250g sugar in a saucepan over medium heat, dropping in a few sprigs of fresh or dried lavender. Simmer until the consistency of a syrup, then strain. In a shaker packed with ice, combine all of your ingredients. Shake, strain into a cocktail coupe and enjoy!

Chamomile Hot Toddy

1 chamomile teabag
1 cup of water
1 tbsp honey
50ml gin
25ml lemon juice
Chamomile flowers, to garnish

In a saucepan, brew your chamomile tea. Discard the teabags and stir in your honey. Remove from heat and add the gin and lemon juice. Garnish and serve immediately.

Hibiscus G&T(ea)

45ml gin
10ml simple syrup
10ml freshly squeezed lemon juice
35ml Hibiscus tea, brewed and cooled

Add the gin, lemon syrup, lemon juice and tea to a cocktail shaker with ice and shake vigorously. Strain into a small tumbler and garnish with a mint sprig.

Spring Collins

50ml Manchester Gin Distillers Cut
35ml fresh lemon juice
25ml elderflower liqueur or cordial
Soda water, to top up
Slice of cucumber and edible flowers, to garnish

Fill a Collins glass with crushed ice and build your cocktail inside. Garnish with edible flowers and a cucumber.
