We've tried lots of different gin cocktails - everything from classic favourites to more experimental concoctions - but we're not so sure about these mixtures with some seriously unusual ingredients! There's only one way to find out if they're any good... 

Avocado Gimlet

Unusual ingredient: Avocado 

Ingredients:
1/4 avocado, peeled, stone removed
45ml gin
15ml apple Schnapps
30ml lime juice, freshly squeezed
20ml sugar syrup

Method:
In a cocktail shaker, muddle avocado, then add other ingredients. Shake vigorously with ice. Strain into a chilled coupe glass.

 

Wonka Bar

Unusual ingredient: Truffle Oil

Ingredients:
50ml gin
vanilla ice cream
1 heaped Tbsp crushed Oreo cookie
3 dashed truffle bitters
1 drop truffle oil
25ml vanilla sugar (or regular sugar)
50ml almond milk

Method:

In a milk bottle or mason jar, stir together a tablespoon of vanilla ice cream and almond milk. Then add gin. and stir to combine. Add in vanilla sugar, the truffle bitters and truffle oil, stirring well. Finally, add a scoop of vanilla ice cream and Oreo crumbs, stirring well so Oreos evenly distribute and cocktail is thick and creamy. 

 

Thai Highball

Unusual ingredient: Green Tea & Lemongrass

Ingredients:
50ml gin
20ml lemon juice, freshly squeezed
25ml green tea, ginger and lemongrass syrup*
75ml green tea, chilled
lemon twist, to garnish
sliced ginger, to garnish,
lemongrass, to garnish

Method:

In a cocktail shaker, add all ingredients, except the chilled green tea, and shake well. Strain into a highball filled with ice and top up with the chilled green tea. Add the lemon twist, ginger slice and lemongrass to garnish.

Eucalyptus Martini

Unusual ingredient: Eucalyptus Syrup

Ingredients:
50ml gin
30ml eucalyptus syrup*
30ml lime juice, freshly squeezed
20ml Cointreau
1 dash egg white
Eucalyptus leaf, to garnish (if possible)

Method:

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice, add ingredients and shake vigorously. Double strain into a chilled Martini glass. Garnish with a eucalyptus leaf.
