FAQ

WHAT IS THE GIN BOND?

The Gin Bond is a way for Craft Gin Club to raise money to help our business grow. You are invited to invest in the Gin Bond and in return we will pay you a fixed rate of interest, either in cash or in gin boxes.

The Gin Bond is a mini bond, an unsecured investment which carries risk as it is not backed by property or other assets. It also is not protected from loss by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.

For further information on mini bonds, including details of risks associated with mini bond investments and details of the information you should know before investing in mini bonds, please refer to the FCA’s website: https://www.fca.org.uk/consumers/mini-bonds

Why is Craft Gin Club raising money?

Proceeds from the Gin Bond will enable us to accelerate our expansion plans through improving our customer offering and taking advantage of some clear market opportunities. We have identified three key areas that will take our business forward: marketing activity growth and optimisation; product and member rewards development; and building on our distiller support activities.

How can I invest?

When investing in the Gin Bond, you can choose to invest in our Gin Box Bonds, our Cash Bond or a combination of the two.

Gin Box Bonds - annual interest rate of 12% gross, paid in the form of gin boxes. There are three different annual Craft Gin Club membership plans to choose from, with an investment of £5,000, £2,500 or £1,666.67 required.

Cash Bonds - annual interest rate of 8% gross, paid in cash twice a year. Applications for the Cash Bond are in multiples of £500 subject to a minimum investment of £500.

Whichever option you choose, after four years your Gin Bond is repayable on request. And if you invest £10,000 or more, you get a Craft Gin Club black card, entitling you a whole range of exclusive benefits.

Before making an Application, you will need to complete a short Appropriateness Questionnaire. This is a requirement of the Financial Conduct Authority’s rules to ensure that you understand the nature of the investment you wish to make. Interest is payable net of withholding tax at the basic rate (currently 20%).

Will Craft Gin Club members have exclusive access to the investment?

Anyone who meets our investor suitability and appropriate client classification criteria can invest in the Gin Bond - not just club members.

However, there is a two-week priority period from the opening of the bond until 14 November, during which applications from Craft Gin Club members will be prioritised over non-members, should the Bond be oversubscribed in that time.

Who else has invested in Craft Gin Club?

Craft Gin Club has already been backed by successful entrepreneur turned investor, Sarah Willingham, who invested in the business when our founders appeared on Dragons’ Den in 2016. Sarah still plays a role in the business today, sitting on our Advisory Board.

How do I make a return on my investment?

When you invest in the Gin Bond, depending on which option you choose, we will pay you interest either at 12% gross per annum in gin boxes or 8% gross per annum in cash. Interest is payable net of withholding tax at the basic rate (currently 20%).

How much can I invest?

To invest in our Gin Box Bonds, you must choose to invest either £5,000, £2,500 or £1,666.67. To invest in our Cash Bond, a minimum investment of £500 is required and investments must then be in multiples of £500 thereafter.

If you want to qualify for a Craft Gin Club Black Card, you must invest a minimum of £10,000.

There is no upper limit on individual investments as such, although the maximum we are able to raise overall is £3 million.

What happens after I invest?

We will email you to confirm the Gin Bond’s closure on 13 December (or when we meet our maximum target, if that happens first).

If your application for the Gin Bond is successful in whole or in part (subject to minimum subscriptions) our email will be followed shortly by your official Gin Bond certificate which our Receiving Agent, Bluewater Capital will email to you. If you have invested in the Gin Box Bond and Cash Bond, you will be provided with two separate Gin Bond Certificates.

If you have invested in Gin Box Bond, your first annual membership coupon code will be emailed to you separately, with further codes following on the same date annually for the lifetime of the Bond.

If you have invested in the Cash Bond, you will receive notification and payment of your first interest payment 6 months after the date on your certificate. Further cash interest payments will then be made at 6 month intervals. Payments of interest will be made in cash by way of bank transfer, facilitated by our Receiving Agent.
