Our July Gin of the Month is here! And by all accounts our members have had a wonderful weekend getting to know this Swedish sensation.
Hernö Gin lays claim to the title of Europe’s most awarded gin, with more than 25 international Master and Gold Medals won in the last three years.
On top of all that the team, led by the very talented distiller Jon Hillgren, was recently awarded the Boutique Distillery of the Year and the Contemporary Gin Trophy at the International Wine and Spirits Competition. Quite the impressive haul!
We are therefore incredibly excited to bring our members a limited edition bottling of Hernö - not only in a 70cl rather then standard 50cl size (more gin, hurrah!), but also with a unique label featuring a beautiful image by Swedish photographer Johan Wester. HERNÖ GIN
Organic London Dry Gin, 40.5% ABV
The most awarded gin in Europe three years in a row, specially bottled in a 70cl bottle for Craft Gin Club members, with a limited edition label. Distilled in the village of Dala near the city of Härnösand in Ångermanland, Sweden
BOTANICALS
Juniper, Coriander seed, Lemon, Lingonberries, Meadowsweet, Black Pepper, Cassia, Fresh Vanilla.
TASTING NOTES
Round and smooth, with a juniper character, fresh citrus notes and a floral complexity which makes the gin very enjoyable on its own.
PERFECT HERNÖ G&T
Take a highball glass and fill the whole glass with ice, pour in 50ml of Hernö Gin, top with tonic water and garnish with a lemon zest or a lime wedge.
To be a little more creative, add salt and pepper to really get the herbal note in Hernö Gin going.
The Fever-Tree Aromatic Tonic in July's box this month also pairs beautifully with this gin’s herbal flavours, adding an extra, unique dimension.
