3 Cymraeg Cocktails for St David's Day

Dydd Gwyl Dewi Sant Hapus! (That's Happy Saint David's Day to those of you not fluent in Welsh!) To help celebrate Wales' national day, we've gathered together these three delicious Welsh (or Cyrmaeg) gin cocktails. And if you make them with some lovely Welsh craft gin, all the better - iechyd da!

Red Dragon

A deliciously fruity celebration of the Welsh emblem and pride of the Welsh flag.


30ml Gin
30ml Grand Marnier
25ml blood orange juice
25ml lemon juice
3ml grenadine


Shake all ingredients with ice. Strain into chilled glass.

The Welshcake Cocktail

Inspired by the traditional Welsh snack, the sweet, spicy and fruity creation from The Missing Drink can take the place of a cup of tea with an actual Welshcake or two...


25ml Gin
25ml Galliano
15ml Cointreau
25ml Orange Juice
25ml Egg White


Muddle a jigger full of raisins with the Gin. Add it, along with the orange juice, Galliano, Cointreau and egg white to your shaker. Dry shake, until the egg white is fully aerated. Add ice and shake vigorously. Pour into a brown sugar rimmed Champagne coupe and serve alongside a couple of Welshcakes. Garnish with a square of orange peel and a raisin on a cocktail stick.

2 Parts Seaweed Gin
3 Parts Dry Vermouth
Rosemary and/or Orange Peel garnish


Combine gin and vermouth in mixer glass on ice. Stir gently. Strain into Martini glass. Garnish with rosemary and/or orange peel.
