During the government elections last week, we drove our own campaign to elect the UK’s PM - Premium Mixer. Basically, we were attempting to determine the country’s favourite tonic brand.

With the resurgence of the popularity of gin driven by craft distillers, a range of craft mixer brands have emerged to ride the craft gin wave and to find the perfect tonic for all the different styles of gin. Perhaps not surprisingly, the market’s first mover, Fever Tree, blew away the competition in our survey. Not only has Fever Tree tapped into what was once a stale market and created amazing products with expertly sourced ingredients, but it is also served in the world’s top restaurants and even IPOd last year. Not bad for a drinks company barely ten years old.

Here’s the final tally, taken from the votes of over 500 gin lovers electing their favourite Premium Mixer:

  • Fever Tree - 55.2%
  • Fentiman’s - 14%
  • Schweppes - 7.2%
  • 1724 - 6.3%
  • Walter Gregor’s - 5.7%
  • Q Tonic - 3.6%
  • Bramley & Gage - 3%
  • Britvic - 1.5%
  • Peter Spanton - 1.3%
  • Tesco’s - 0.8%
  • Sainsbury’s - 0.8%
  • Nordic Mist - 0.6%

Congratulations to Lyndsay Mackintosh from Glasgow who won a free month of Craft Gin Club Memberships for her participation in our Premium Mixer election. Lyndsay will receive June’s Gin of the Month. What is that gin and what tonic should you mix it with? We can’t tell yet!
