Where to celebrate with Scottish Gin no matter your views on the independence referendum results

It’s official! The United Kingdom will remain intact as the Scottish Independence movement didn’t gather enough votes in yesterday’s referendum. As the Scots prepare for the increased autonomy promised from Westminster, perhaps more of the proceeds from booming gin sales will remain in Scotland. With 70% of all UK gins produced in Scotland, they stand to save a pound or two. 

If you’re heading up to Bonnie Scotland to help the Scots celebrate their vote and the gin, here are few of the best gin bars you should patronize while you’re there.

This self-proclaimed Gin Emporium was launched this June by the Edinburgh Gin Distillery, the producers of Edinburgh Gin and its elderflower, raspberry and Cannonball siblings. The distillery’s two stills sit in the bar for visitors to see and also makes infusions and syrups under the Heads and Tales brand.

The first Scottish bar selected for Bartender Magazine’s Top 20, this Edinburgh haunt boasts a wide selection of craft gins and whiskies as well as superb cocktails. If you’re not feeling to adventurous, then try the cocktail the bar named itself for, the Bramble, a mixture of gin, lemon juice and Crême de Mûre.

This Glaswegian bar serves a fine selection of over 50 gins and juicy Scottish steaks all in modern settings underneath Glasgow Central Station.
